Dr Avril Cogan

Mb BCH BAO MICGP DME DRCOG Dip DERM

Dr. Cogan has been working in Donabate Clinic since 2011.

She graduated from University College Dublin in 2006. She achieved first class honours in Paediatrics, Psychiatry and Obstetrics and Gynaecology, areas which have remained of particular interest to her.

She completed the UCD GP Vocational training scheme in 2011 coming first place overall in the MICGP examinations that year.

During her training Avril worked in Temple Street Children's Hospital, the National Maternity Hospital, Blackrock Hospice, St Vincents University Hospital and she worked in GP practices in Arklow and Mount Merrion.

She has been awarded diplomas in Medicine for the Elderly (DME), Obstetrics and Gynaecology (DRCOG), Dermatology (Derm Dip), Family Planning and Practice Management, all of which prove immensely valuable in her daily work as a GP.

She is currently training with the UCD School of Psychotherapy.

Dr. Peter Watson

Mb BCH BAO (Hons) MRCGP DFSRH MICGP

Dr. Watson has been working in Donabate Clinic since 2013. He graduated from Trinity College, Dublin in 2000 with an Honours Degree.

He worked for two years in Tallaght Hospital and Waterford Regional Hospital before he moved to the UK where he completed GP training on the Oxford City GP Vocational Training scheme. In Oxford he undertook further hospital training in the John Radcliffe Hospital and completed his GP registrar training in a practice in Oxford city. He has completed training in A&e, Medicine, Paediatrics, Psychiatry, Gynaecology and Family Planning. He has completed the Diploma in Sexual and Reproductive Health.

Dr Watson worked as a partner in a practice in Oxfordshire for three years before returning to work in Ireland in 2009.

Dr Watson's interests include Cardiovascular Health, Dermatology and Paediatrics. Dr Watson has worked for 18 months in Accident and Emergency and has an interest in acute presentations of illness and emergencies.

Dr Watson is married with three young children.

Dr. Caroline Kelly

Dr. Caroline has recently moved to Ireland from Sweden, where she completed her medical training. She undertook her medical degree at Uppsala University, graduating in 2009. Following this she started practicing medicine, working in general surgery, internal medicine, A&E and psychiatry as part of her internship.

In 2020 Caroline completed her five year GP registrar training. This included rotations in internal medicine, A&E, psychiatry, paediatrics, geriatrics, gynaecology and in a chronic pain management clinic.

Caroline has a special interest in care for elderly, Paediatrics, and preventative medicine. She is married with three kids and enjoys hiking and running.

Nurse Sinead Rafferty

Nurse Sinéad qualified in General Nursing from DCU in 2004.  She spent 3 years working within an acute Nephrology Unit in Beaumont Hospital, were she had begun as a Student. She took up a position with HITH (Hospital in the Home) with Tara Healthcare from 2007 to 2008. This is a service allowing patients to receive Hospital level care from the comfort of their own home.  Sinéad changed to Practice Nursing in June 2008 and has been a part of the Donabate clinic team ever since.

Sinéad provides a broad range of services in conjunction with our Doctors, Including Childhood Vaccinations, Phlebotomy, Cervical Screening, Dressings, Removal of Sutures, Ear Syringing, ECG and Blood Pressure Monitoring.

Nurse Ciara Mulroy

Nurse Ciara graduated with a diploma of higher education in Nursing from Buckinghamshire University College in England. She worked on an acute medical ward for 6 months after qualifying and then went on to specialise in Accident and Emergency.  Ciara worked in a number of Hospitals in London for close to seven years. During this time she built up a wealth of knowledge in treating a wide range of illnesses and injuries. She returned to Ireland and worked for 7 years in the VHI Swiftcare Clinic in Swords, Co. Dublin. 

In September 2015 Ciara joined our team at Donabate Clinic and provides a broad range of services including,  Childhood Vaccinations, Phlebotomy, Cervical Screening, Dressings, Removal of Sutures, Ear syringing, ECG and Blood Pressure Monitoring

Nurse Aideen Kearns

Nurse Aideen qualified in General Nursing from Trinity College in 2015. She began working on the cardio-thoracic unit in St James’s Hospital, where she trained, caring for patients post cardiac/thoracic surgery. From there she took up a position within the Emergency Department in St James’s, where she spent 3 years. During her time here she gained experience in caring for a vast range of illnesses and injuries in an acute setting.

She began a Higher Diploma in Paediatric Nursing in DCU in September 2019 and qualified as a Paediatric Nurse in 2020. From here she began working in the paediatric ICU where she worked for 8 months before beginning her career in Donabate Clinic.

Aideen joined Donabate Clinic in 2021 and provides a broad range of services including phlebotomy, childhood vaccinations, cervical screening, dressings, removal of sutures, ear syringing, ECG and blood pressure monitoring.
